The Department of Internal Medicine at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine is seeking a faculty physician at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank, devoted to diagnosing and treating Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD), including ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease. The USF Health team includes physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and others that work together to offer long-term relief for IBD symptoms, to minimize flare-ups and to help achieve longer periods of remission. Clinical practice includes hospital rotations, inpatient and outpatient endoscopy, and conducts ambulatory clinics in the IBD Center. The successful candidate will also have a medical/educational research footprint focused on building and maintaining a nationally competitive research program.
Responsibilities:
Teaching: Participates in didactic teaching and mentoring of medical and/or graduate students, residents and/or post-doctoral fellows. Participate in the development of the IBD Fellowship Program.
Research: Participate in research with the Division of Digestive Disease & Nutrition, Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center, and in educational research and other scholarly activities.
Administrative Duties: Complete clinical obligations such as chart completion, patient follow-up, triaging calls and labs, organizing outreach clinics and growing the referral network.
Clinical Practice: Clinical practice includes hospital rotations, inpatient and outpatient endoscopy, and conducts ambulatory clinics in the IBD Center. The primary clinical focus will be inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). IBD clinic services include advanced medical diagnosis and care by gastroenterologists whose practice focused on IBD; surgical consultation and treatment by colon and rectal surgeons who are very experienced in surgical care for patients who have ulcerative colitis and Chron’s diseases.
Qualifications:
Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. For Associate/Full Professor - Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in referred and other professional journals and be a recognized authority in the field of specialization.
Must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent required. To perform this position, the candidate will need to obtain and maintain a full unrestricted FL Medical License, maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan, and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals he/she is assigned to perform clinical duties. The candidate will participate in the teaching of residents, fellows, and medical students in clinical medicine.
